Emergency Communication
I realize we had some issues with the "secure perimeter" (formerly known as "soft lockdown") notification on Monday. It should have gone out instantly through ParentSquare but it did not. We have met and discussed the issue and moving forward when an emergency message needs to go out to all, we will send a message through the "VHEE Crisis Communication" in Group Me, send an "instant alert" through ParentSquare and we will make an announcement for teachers to check these messages. We have to ensure everyone is notified and I'm sorry for the issue Monday.

**If you don't have one of the cards shown below with your badge, please ask for one next time you are in the office.

Important Upcoming Dates for your calendar
  • Faculty Meeting - Monday, Dec. 2 - Teachers, please bring and/or be ready to share one example of how you have given feedback to your students in the way of "Celebrating Success". As you know, this is one of the elements we are focusing on from our Model of Instruction.
  • 75th Birthday celebration is Wednesday, Dec. 4. We will be taking our EAGLE drone picture on the field. Please note this in your plans from 9:00 - 10:00. I will be sending out a document today for you to read through for our procedures for this. If you do not have children that you are responsible for at this time, we'll need your help as well. Please be on the lookout for this document. Please review this and discuss with your class on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
  • SST/PLT is Wednesday, Dec. 11. 4th grade, we will find another time to discuss your SST kids due to music program.
  • After school Christmas party at my house (2608 Vesclub Circle) is Thursday, Dec. 18! We'll put a food and drink sign up after Thanksgiving.
  • Please note that back to school 2025 dates are as follows:

Student Advisory Panel
Emily, Hunter, Kelsey and I met with a student panel last week comprised of group of students from 3rd-5th grades. Their feedback and discussions were amazing and give us great insight on their experiences here at East. Some hightlights are:

  • When asked if they have someone in the school that knows and cares about them, all answered "yes"
  • When asked how they know this, they responded:
"understands my humor"
"wants me to be better"
"we have a relationship and nick names for each other"
"somehow knows when I need something and helps me through it"
"been there for me"
"takes her time to teach me in fun ways"
  • We asked what we more could do to ensure children all follow The Golden Rule and live by our EAGLE Core Values, they responded about several behaviors on the playground. They also mentioned that sometimes, children don't want to be a "tattletale". We talked about doing the right thing by telling an adult if something is happening that we can help with. Now we are discussing the best system or process that we might could put into place so that children feel safe to report any issues that we need to know about as administrators and counselors.
  • When asked to give one word to describe East, they responded:
"Amazing"
"Fun"
"Caring"
"Cheerful"
"Fantabulous"
"Accepting"
"Complicated"
"Supporting"

We will have another Student Advisory Panel and a Parent Advisory Panel during the second semester.
Eagle's Nest Google Classroom
Turkey
"Why did the turkey join the teaching staff?
Because it heard you all were excellent at giving students the ‘stuffing’ they need to succeed!"

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! You’re the reason our school is stuffed with brilliance and gratitude every day. Enjoy your week!
